“It is a pleasure to linger in the redwoods
to contemplate their greatness....”
– F.H. Clark 1891
Redwood trees grow in communities. Mature trees give off sprouts, which often take root and grow in what is know as a Family Circle. I am awed and by the strength and majesty of the Redwoods. I see them as a perfect parallel of what is, for me, the heart of midwifery care: family, community, growth.
I look forward to sharing more here about the ways these trees inspire me as a living allegory for my work with families.
